There are so many types of dark chocolate, which are the best? Wells I must say that I dun really believe in investing so much money into one particular type of food so I wouldn't like dump 50 dollars into buying a box of chocolates. That's madness until the day I start earning my salary! I will spend tt 50 on a buffet anyday man! I can't say I have ate a lot of different kinds of dark chocolate but I have found a few favorites which I have stuck by! :))) Many thanks to people who have given me chocolates as gifts! Food make the best presents I say! XD
So far, the best and affordable chocs available that I have eaten. Hmmm Toberlone's dark chocolate which is supposedly limited edition (Although it seems to be ever present. Was tempted to stock up on it in fear of it being taken off the market.) They have found the perfect combination of cocoa beans, cocoa butter and sugar! It is not sickeningly sweet or thin like Hershey's dark chocolate bar. It has a richness that is really addictive. Next up we have Hershey's dark chocolate nuggets with truffle centers! Its really amazing i tell you! Each time you eat one, you will feel like smiling! I am serious! Go try it if you don't believe me! You will begin to look at those nuggets in a different way, they are not merely chocolates anymore. They become YOUR LOVE!!! We often see bars of chocolate with the different amounts of cocoa content printed on them. After much experimentation, 76% is the optimal percentage of cocoa content a dark chocolate should have. 86% is far too bitter for you to enjoy the chocolate.
Okay if you are not convinced by me, here are just some health benefits of eating dark chocolate from http://longevity.about.com/od/lifelongnutrition/p/chocolate.htm
- Chocolate is made from plants, which means it contains many of the health benefits of dark vegetables.
- They contain antioxidants which protect the body from aging caused by free radicals, which can cause damage that leads to heart disease.
- Dark chocolate contains a large number of antioxidants (nearly 8 times the number found in strawberries).
- Flavonoids (an antioxidant) help relax blood pressure through the production of nitric oxide, and balances certain hormones in the body.
Other benefits of dark chocolate:
- it tastes good
- it stimulates endorphin production, which gives a feeling of pleasure
- it contains serotonin, which acts as an anti-depressant
- it contains theobromine, caffeine and other substances which are stimulants
Why you should abandon milk and white chocolate:
- Dark chocolate has far more antioxidants than milk or white chocolate.
- These other two chocolates cannot make any health claims.
- Dark chocolate has 65 percent or higher cocoa content.
Okay with all this said and done, I simply love the bittersweetness of the dark chocolate! Its like life, amongst the bitterness you may face, there will be the aftertaste of sweetness! You have to finish the chocolate to taste the sweetness! So buy me dark some dark chocolate willya! :)))
