Tue started from Mon night for me. I had to make a decision at 11pm. Should I or shouldn't I go for the Gender Focus Group my Unit was going to have the next day???!!! The reason being, I was the only one from my CG who was going to go! Its so sad!!! I was even tempted to go for the Men's Ministry, at least my CG guys would be there... My brain worked at an amazing speed and promptly churned out 101 reasons for my not to go for the Gender Focus Group. No one from my group was going! Kat is going to be lonely! I would be too tired, having a project meeting after that and a birthday celebration at night. Botanical Garden is not somewhere I would frequent, Hot Sun, Bloodthirsty Insects etc etc etc... Not the best of places to be at. Never would I have thought that I would struggle in attending an unit event. My usual reply is to just say Yes, and await the event. But somehow, this event was something that came as a dread.
Haha however I thought through and decided, heck! I should just go, I had a feeling that I would take something away from this event more than just insect bites. This was really a chance to gauge for myself just how much importance I place on God's people and my priorities. Dragging myself from the bed was reallllllllly painful if you know what I mean. You just want to cancel everything and just plop yourself back on your pillow and snuggle up in your covers till your body restores itself to full power and gives you the signal to wake up. Grudgingly, I pulled myself out of bed and got ready, making a short prayer to God for myself to enjoy the event later.
What can I say, God really answered my prayer. I got off too a great start and really got to make a lot of new friends among the sisters from the others CGs, shifting from being merely acquaintances to sisters building relationships. I really enjoyed the fellowship which would have been very difficult. Got to talk more to Christine, Ivy, Joyce, Venetia and Jalea. We started off by having a picnic on the ground near the symphony stage. People brought HAM!!! Woohoo! We then played some games to really mingle around! It was great fun, no one cared about propriety or looking unglam, the atmosphere was really comfy. Kat managed to emerge from the games unscathed by the temp. tattoos. NO forfeit! =) After that came praise and worship haha! Do you have any idea how it feels like to praise and worship in the open for everyone to see? Do try it!
Next, we had a skit and teaching, both which were in my opinion very well prepared and enlightening. The explanations for the rationale of the BGR policy in the tertiary was really explained well and it really is not merely the autocratic charge taken by the church, but more of a question of self reflection. Do you know and understand what is agape love (unconditional love)? What are the implications of a relationship that you just plunge yourself into? Imagine having to challenge and encourage your husband to attend church and CG for the rest of your life! Woo!!!! Shivers up and down my spine in a BAD way! I am really glad that I chose to come to the event. It was 3 hours well spent.
I left a bit early to rush down to Bishan for project meeting. I walked back with Venetia and we really chatted quite a bit. We touched upon the issues for the heart, the NUS ministry and certain struggles in our life. Its really nice to have someone to have a fruitful and deep conversation with. This is something which I don't take granted for, its more difficult for me now to find people with the same heartbeat and convictions for God in NUS. I hope that God will work something in the hearts of the people in the NUS group and we will really become strong biblical people, committed to building up his church. Let's not just continue to stay unfinished as a house!
The project meeting was fruitful! Thank God! I met some of my ex students OMG! Haha! Oh something random. At the Botanical Gardens I saw loads of small kids!!!! So cute and adorable! I shall look forward to motherhood!
After the meeting, I rushed home and napped for 1 hour before getting ready for the celebration! Oh my Goodness! you have no idea how much I missed them, although Cai I see you a tad too much yah! Lol ok just joking! Its so difficult to find 6 people who have the chemistry and whom you are confident of sharing your life issues to. Its is not very often you can find friends that you can keep. Friends Forever! =)))))))) Moving on to the food, we ate at Waraku at Heeren. They had this ladies night offer which entitled you to half price off your bill with at least 4 ladies dining! Oh my goodness! It was just pure heaven for me! I ate Unagi Don. The Unagi was longer than my palm! I ate fried tofu (Sake Sushi still has the best). On top of that sashimi! Wooo! Tuna, Salmon and Yellowtail! (Shukudo's Swordfish belly sashimi is still the greatest) I almost decided at that point that I was going to marry a sashimi chef who could fish well. I would just take him out to sea, bring along wasabi, soy sauce, a sashimi knife and some sake! Then he would be my provider of instant sashimi! *Drools* I bet that you are drooling too!
Throughout dinner, the girls were laughing continuously at the things I said, funny... After
dinner came intense cam whoring! We took pics at various parts of Heeren, even at some makeshift walkway doing poses for the camera! I sure enjoyed that! Haha! Shall post up photos
